Hardik Pandya was missing in the squads across all formats in India’s tour of South Africa scheduled in the months of December 2023 and January 2024. This is a cause of concern among fans with the T20 World Cup scheduled in June 2024. Pandya sustained an ankle injury during India's clash with Bangladesh in Pune.
As per reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have put Hardik Pandya on an 18-week performance improvement program. This is aimed at improving his stamina. There would be a separate drill for this purpose. Each day of the week would have a different program. Cardio and muscle strengthening exercises are also part of the program. The training is aimed to improve his overall functionality but also has ample scope for rest in between. Important indicators in his body would be constantly monitored.
The program is scheduled to go on until the end of March.
This system was in place even when Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah were recovering from injuries ahead of World Cup 2023. If all goes well, Pandya would be in the position to participate in the Indian Premier League’s (IPL’s) 2024 edition.
Hardik would be representing Mumbai Indians in this edition, the team that first gave him an opportunity to demonstrate his talent to the world.
