The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) has secured a ₹27,000 crore loan from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) to kickstart the long-delayed Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC) project. Officials reportedly confirmed the initiative, previously known as the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), is expected to receive clearance by early 2025.

The loan includes ₹21,000 crore for land acquisition and ₹6,000 crore for road construction. The BBC will span 73 km, connecting Tumakuru Road to Hosur Road via a 100-meter-wide road passing through 77 villages. Key areas like Hesaraghatta, Doddaballapur, Chikkaballapur, Whitefield, and Hosur will be linked, easing Bengaluru’s infamous traffic congestion.

Approximately 2,560 acres of land will be acquired, with compensation to farmers determined under the BDA Act and the Land Acquisition Compensation Act. A six-lane, 50-meter-wide road will be constructed, while the remaining land on either side will be designated for commercial purposes.

To ensure timely repayment through toll collection, a significant portion of the land will be developed commercially. The state government will cover loan interest for the first four years, with BDA responsible for full repayment if the loan extends beyond this period.

The ₹27,000 crore financial infusion marks a significant milestone for the project, which is set for completion in three years. Discussions with landowners are underway to expedite land acquisition and provide fair compensation.
