The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has uncovered a staggering 279 unauthorized layouts within the city, issuing a stern warning to potential investors to steer clear of these areas to avoid entanglement in legal and financial ramifications.

These illegal layouts encompass over 27,000 plots, prompting the BDA to communicate with the sub-registrar, urging the cessation of property registrations within these areas.

In a bid to increase transparency and awareness, the authority meticulously compiled a comprehensive report delineating the taluks, hoblis, villages, and survey numbers implicated in the proliferation of unauthorized layouts. The publication of this list on the BDA website was done a fortnight ago.

Emphasizing the significance of this endeavour, BDA officials reportedly underscored its role in promoting the structured expansion of Bengaluru.

According to reports, a senior engineer at the BDA confirmed the unauthorized development of numerous land parcels in Yelahanka, Anekal, Bengaluru South, and Bengaluru East taluks. In some layouts, buildings have come up on certain plots, a disconcerting reality, remarked the engineer.

These expansive layouts have been established without obtaining the requisite land use conversion approval mandated under the Revised Master Plan 2015.

Infrastructure such as concrete roads, drains, electricity poles, and drainage systems has been installed, with dirt, asphalt, and gravel roads encroaching upon lands earmarked for agricultural, industrial, commercial, and forest purposes.
