“BeepBiceps” guy, Ranveer Allahabadia has earned quite a following on YouTube for his podcast show “The Ranveer Show” (TRS) and as the rule on YouTube goes, with great following comes great controversy.
He had recently interviewed the famous youtuber cum historian, Keerthika Govindaswamy on his show with an episode titled “Things we do not know about Tamil Nadu and Tamil Culture” focusing on multiple themes like Tamil history, dating culture in Tamil Nadu, fan following for cinema stars and dating culture.
One particularly interesting sub section of the videos was the comparison of Tamil Nadu with other southern states. In this portion, he said while referring to Karnataka, “I think they are just very chill, it is a very relaxed culture, like Kannadigas, again I might be wrong, this is just based on me going to Bengaluru and around Bengaluru” to which the historian replied “ Bengaluru is just another Mumbai. You cannot conclude about the culture based on Bengaluru.” In and of itself the statement appears to be harmless but it was preceded by “I generally feel Tamilians have the most pride in being Tamilian. I find that less in Karnataka.” Does this mean Kannadigas lack pride in their language or that having pride in a language is not a good thing? That’s left for the audience to decide or in other words for Twitter to decide.
This clip started making rounds on twitter with people arguing for and against the podcaster. As Upendra once said, we Kannadigas are very large hearted!
