A Circle Inspector (CPI) has been suspended in relation to the case wherein sexual and physical assault was meted to a woman as her son eloped with the daughter belonging to the family of the perpetrators in Belagavi. The suspension order of the CPI of the Kakathi Thane, Vijay Sinoor was handed by the City’s Police Commissioner, Siddaramappa. 

The incident in Belagavi wherein a woman was stripped of her clothes and tied to a pole and beaten for close to two and a half hours has caused shockwaves across the nation. The incident that took place came to the notice of the CPI at 3 AM. One of the other officials in the same police station who served as a constable informed the CPI about this. He was even updated about the gravity of the situation.

 However, he visited the spot only at 7 AM in the morning. A report was filed to the Commissioner by the Assistant Commissioner of Police of the rural branch. The High Court also expressed discontentment with how the case has been handled. They questioned the State Government over what action would be taken against the police officials who caused a delay in serving justice.
