Two remarkable women played key roles in informing the nation about the success of Operation Sindoor, Lt. Col. Sofia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. Among them, Sofia Qureshi who is originally from Gujarat has now become a proud daughter-in-law of Karnataka, having married Tajuddin Bagewadi from Belagavi’s Gokak Taluk, village Konnoor.
Her father-in-law, Mr. Ghaus Saab, spoke to NewsFirst about his immense pride after watching her on television. He expressed how Sofia’s contribution has brought great honor to Karnataka and highlighted how both Sofia and his son, Col. Tajuddin, serve in the Indian Army. He added that he had always encouraged his children to serve the country, and now, both son and daughter-in-law are doing just that.
Ghaus Saab shared personal anecdotes, revealing that Sofia enjoys traditional North Karnataka food like jowar rotti, country chicken, and sugarcane. She is also health-conscious and encourages the family to stay fit. Despite their high ranks, when the couple visits home, they remain grounded and joyful. Sofia currently serves as a Colonel in Jammu, while her husband is posted in Jhansi.
Notably, Lt. Col. Sofia Qureshi is the first Indian woman officer to command a multinational military contingent. The couple, who married in 2015, represent a powerful example of patriotism and partnership.
