The 88th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be held in Bellary, marking the return of the prestigious literary festival to the region after 67 years. Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Dr. Mahesh Joshi announced the decision during the closing day of the 87th Sammelana in Mandya. The announcement followed a unanimous resolution by the executive committee.

Bellary, known as “Gani Nadu,” has hosted the event four times previously, and this upcoming gathering will be the fifth. Dr. Joshi highlighted the success of the Mandya event, praising its innovative focus on integrating politics and literature, which resonated well with attendees. He also expressed gratitude to the people of Mandya for their overwhelming support and participation.

The 87th Sammelana in Mandya, dubbed Sakkare Nadu, witnessed record-breaking attendance and featured a variety of special conferences. Literary enthusiasts and dignitaries, including Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Opposition Leader R. Ashok, and Minister Chaluvarayaswamy, contributed to its success.

The grand closing ceremony will take place at 4:30 PM, presided over by Nirmalananda Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Peetha. The event will see the presentation of the conference resolution and participation from a host of ministers, MLAs, and literary luminaries, including Conference President Nadoja Dr. Go.Ru Channabasappa.

As preparations begin for Bellary’s turn to host the literary fest, expectations are high for another remarkable celebration of Kannada language and culture.
