Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced on November 16 the Unboxing BLR Habba 2023 (UBH), a 10-day festival scheduled to unfold in Bengaluru from December 1 to 11.
This annual event is set to feature more than 300 diverse activities spanning arts, culture, literature, heritage, technology, environment, design, dance, music, and theatre.
Highlighting Bengaluru’s multifaceted identity beyond its technological prominence, Shivakumar emphasized the city’s rich heritage, culture, and environmental significance.
He expressed the commitment to uphold these traditions, citing the city’s historical practices like karaga and kadlekai parishe. Numerous organizations have eagerly joined the festival, receiving government support.
The Unboxing BLR Habba aims to be a collaborative initiative with private involvement, backed by the state government, showcasing and celebrating the best of Bengaluru.
The Unboxing BLR Foundation, the festival’s organizers, envision this event becoming the premier destination for visitors not only from Karnataka but also from across the nation and South Asia during the first half of December.
Organizers anticipate that within five years, UBH will solidify its status as a cultural and artistic hub, attracting a diverse audience. The government’s endorsement of the festival is expected to firmly establish Bengaluru on the arts and culture calendar, further enhancing the city’s brand.
During the announcement, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah unveiled “Unboxing Bengaluru: The City of New Beginnings,” a book hailed as a comprehensive exploration of Bengaluru’s evolution from a retiree’s haven to one of the world’s leading tech hubs and a key economic engine in India.
