According to hospital sources, many of these injuries are due to the careless handling of fireworks, often stemming from a lack of caution and disregard for safety measures. Reports indicate that some individuals attempted to light crackers while holding them in their hands, a dangerous practice that poses a significant risk to both the person involved and bystanders. Such recklessness has not only led to physical harm but has also put others nearby in danger, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to safety guidelines during festivals involving fireworks.
Local authorities have raised concerns about this troubling trend and are urging residents to follow safety protocols to prevent further injuries. Medical professionals at Minto Hospital reiterate the importance of parental supervision, especially when children are involved, and emphasize using fireworks in open areas to minimize risks. Community leaders are also advocating for public awareness campaigns to prevent further incidents during the festive season.
