An incident of a student dying on account of bullets from a double-barrelled gun has come to the forefront from the bounds of the Madanayakanahalli police station. 19-year-old Vishu Uthappa hailing from the Kodagu district has been identified as the victim. 

Vishu belonged to Tirumalapura which is located near Chikkabidarakallu. He was a first year engineering student in the RR College. The tragedy unfolded at his home at 6:30 PM on January 3rd. The bullet was lodged on the left side of his chest. His parents were not at home when the incident transpired. They reached home to find Vishu in a precarious state. 

Vishu managed to open the door despite being grievously injured when his parents returned at 8:30 PM. His father Ravi Thimmaya immediately had him admitted to a hospital. The doctors tried to operate on his wounds for more than an hour but their efforts failed. The reason for the suicide has not yet become clear. 

Ravi worked as a security guard in the Nice Company. Vishu used his father’s licensed gun for his suicide. The Madanayakanahalli police have taken his phone into custody to conduct investigations. The Forensic Science Laboratory will carry the investigation forward.
