Malleswaram's famous peanut mela ‘Kadlekai Parishe’ began today, marking the 14th consecutive year of the vibrant mela. The three-day event is being held in the premises of the historic Kadu Mallikarjuna Temple, drawing crowds from near and far.
In a grand inaugural ceremony, former Union Minister Veerappa Moily officially opened the Parishe. The streets surrounding the venue buzzed with festivity, as joyous locals and visitors indulged in the mela.

A standout feature this year is the stunning Nandi Gopuram, a structure intricately decorated with peanuts, adding a unique charm to the mela. Traders from across the region have gathered to participate, with large numbers of people flocking to purchase groundnuts, a vital commodity for many in the area.
This year, the Parishe has taken a significant step toward sustainability, embracing an eco-friendly approach. In response to growing concerns over plastic waste, all groundnuts sold are packaged in biodegradable paper packets. Thousands of these packets, prepared by schoolchildren, are being distributed to encourage environmentally conscious practices.
The Peanut Parishe has become more than just a trade event; it is a celebration of culture, community, and innovation. Visitors can look forward to three days of spirited festivities, delicious groundnut-based treats, and a glimpse into the region's rich traditions.
