In a significant infrastructure push, Bengaluru is set to develop a 32.15-km double-decker road and metro corridor between JP Nagar and Hebbal, aiming to decongest the western section of the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Modeled after the Ragigudda-Silk Board flyover, this will be the city’s longest elevated stretch.

Additionally, an 8-km elevated road has been proposed on Magadi Road, bringing the total cost of these projects to ₹9,800 crore. To optimize land use and reduce acquisition expenses, future metro expansions will integrate with elevated roads. However, this has led to delays in the tendering process for metro civil works under Phase III, which spans over 40 km.
A key design revision at Goraguntepalya will alter the planned JP Nagar 4th Phase-Kempapura metro line. Instead of an interchange at Peenya, a new metro station near Goraguntepalya junction will be developed. This change will shorten the metro line by 300 meters while maintaining connectivity through dedicated travelators linking Peenya and Goraguntepalya.
The corridor is expected to streamline traffic flow between Dr. Rajkumar Memorial and BEL Circle, eliminating bottlenecks. Land acquisition from the Defence Ministry and Central Manufacturing Technology Institute will enable the creation of a direct surface road, further reducing travel detours and improving vehicular movement.
