37-year-old Prathima who worked as a Deputy Director in the Mines and Geology department was hacked to death inside her home on November 4th. The incident unfolded in Kuvempunagar which is close to Doddakalasandra. She was alone at her home when the incident occurred.
Prathima originally hails from the Thirthahalli town in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka. The incident occurred at around 8:30 PM last night. She was stabbed by a knife. The culprit has left no clue behind in the scene. Her family members who had arrived from Thirthahalli to Bengaluru to attend a marriage on November 5th. They had many unsuccessful attempts at calling her the previous night. They opened the door to find her blood-soaked body. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Pavan and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rahul Kumar visited the location of the crime.
Pratima was a senior zoologist in Bengaluru South. She was residing in a rented accommodation for the last eight years. There was no CCTV camera attached to her residence. The Subramanyapura police has recorded statements of the staff hired for the maintenance of the house, her driver and her neighbours.
Her family members remember her as a strong willed and friendly person. Bengaluru City Commissioner Dayananda remarked that apart from approaching him over stronger regulation of trucks carrying gravel from Tamil Nadu to Bengaluru through Hosur, there were no issue she faced at a professional level.
