The Bommanahalli police have arrested 6 people in connection with the kidnapping of a Non-Residential Indian (NRI) who had returned to Bengaluru. Monish, Lokesh, Kishore, Ravi, Dileep and Satish have been identified as the suspects.
Alok Rana, brother of Amit Rana who is a resident of Bommanahalli resided in Australia and even has a citizenship of that country. He came to Bengaluru recently to visit his brother. Alok was also a drug addict. He established contact with Monish through the dark web. He purchased drugs on 5 occasions from Monish.
The kidnappers assumed that Alok is from a privileged background. They planned the kidnapping in order to extort his family of a huge sum of money. They locked Alok in a room and assaulted him. They had Rs 78,000 transferred to themselves after the kidnapping. They also contacted Amit and demanded Rs 40,000. Alok escaped from his predicament and checked himself into a hospital. Alo initially did not reveal any information as he feared prosecution for drug consumption. 15 days later, he gathered the courage and filed a complaint. The police will carry out an interrogation of the suspect.
