Bengaluru: 6-year-old raped, murdered; cops arrest accused

A heinous crime shook Bengaluru's Hoysala Nagar area on January 13 when a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered. The accused, 25-year-old Abhishek Kumar, a construction worker from Bihar, has been taken into custody.

According to police, the victim's parents, also from Bihar, had stepped out for work when Kumar lured the child to a secluded spot. The girl died during the assault.

Enraged locals caught wind of the incident, beat up the accused, and handed him over to the police. Kumar has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, sparking widespread outrage. The police are investigating the matter further.
