Karnataka's Home Minister, G Parameshwara, chaired a high-level security meeting on Monday to discuss preparations for the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations in Bengaluru. The Minister emphasized that the state government is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the safety of all citizens, with a particular focus on the safety of women during the festivities.

"While it’s important to let people celebrate, we must ensure that public safety is not compromised," Parameshwara said, acknowledging potential concerns such as traffic jams, crowded bars, and restaurants. The massive congregations expected for the celebrations are a cause for concern, with an estimated 7 lakh people expected to gather across the city.

The Minister stated that the police and security forces would be closely monitoring areas known for heavy party activity, including MG Road, Koramangala, and Brigade Road, which have traditionally seen large crowds of partygoers.

In addition to managing crowd control, Parameshwara highlighted that the authorities are taking strict measures to curb the use of drugs and alcohol, given last year’s unfortunate incidents. “We are fully aware of what went wrong in the past, and we will not let it happen again,” he assured,
