Another sub-project in the metro construction has been successfully completed with the usage of Tunnel Boring Machines. The Tunnel Boring Machine has been used for digging up routes for the underground phase of Namma Metro. This is part of the 2nd phase of construction for Namma Metro. This project has taken 100 days to get completed.
The work started on the 14th of July. It saw completion on the 26th of October. The tunnel is 718 metres long. On the noon of 26th October, the Tunnel Boring Machine made its way out of the Langford metro stop. This has been the seventh machine used in the 2nd phase of metro construction. The total underground route is estimated to span 21,245 metres. 12 stops including Dairy Circle, Lakkasandra, Langford Town, Rashtriya Military School, MG Road, Shivajinagar, Cantonment Railway Station, Pottery Town, Tannery Road, Venkateshpura, Kaadugondanahalli and Nagavara have already been completed. The project is estimated to be completed by 2025. The track laying work however would be completed before that by June 2024. These stations are constituted as part of the Pink Line. The totality of the Pink Line will constitute 18 stations. This stretch will provide connectivity from Kalena Agrahara and Bannerghatta to Nagavara.
