In a shocking incident of love turning fatal, a 36-year-old woman, Harini, was allegedly murdered by her former lover Yashas (25), a software engineer, at an OYO hotel in Uttarahalli on June 7. The duo, who had rekindled their relationship via social media after a period of separation, met for a final time that evening—ending in tragedy.

Harini, a mother of two and wife of a wealthy landlord from Kengeri, had been in a secret relationship with Yashas for several years. They first met five years ago through a mutual friend during a town festival. Although the affair reportedly ended two years ago, they reconnected recently through Instagram and Facebook after Harini regained access to her mobile phone.
According to police sources, Harini told her family she was visiting relatives before meeting Yashas at a private hotel. After reportedly spending intimate moments together, an argument broke out. Harini allegedly asked Yashas not to contact her again. In a fit of rage and obsession, Yashas fatally stabbed her, saying, “No one else should have you.”
After the murder, he fled the hotel, telling staff he was going to get food. Later, he attempted suicide by slashing his wrist and admitted to the crime at Uttarahalli Hospital. Hospital staff immediately alerted the police, leading to his arrest. The case is now under the jurisdiction of Subrahmanyapura Police.
