Agriculture Minister and Bangalore Agricultural University Co-Chancellor N. Chaluvarayaswamy inaugurated the Krishi Mela, an agricultural fair featuring cutting-edge farming technologies.
The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolized by the watering of a plant, and was set to the tunes of a farmers’ song performed by students from Bangalore Agricultural University.

The fair, attended by prominent figures like Yelahanka MLA Vishwanath and Hoskote MLA Sarath Bachegowda, unveiled an array of advanced agricultural tools. Among the highlights was a driverless tractor by Hexagon Company, capturing the attention of farmers and industry enthusiasts alike. This autonomous tractor, operated remotely, offers farmers the ability to control it with just a start and stop command, leaving the rest to advanced navigation and spraying systems powered by Brazilian technology. Farmers can rent this innovation, with larger landowners standing to gain the most from its efficiency.
Smart drip irrigation also took center stage, allowing mobile-controlled water release and precise scheduling. This system conserves water, operates independently, and ensures consistent irrigation without the need for manual intervention.
Security measures are also a new focus, with 360-degree rotating cameras and motion-detecting sirens designed to protect farmland. These cameras can alert landowners via mobile, providing real-time photos and even enabling two-way communication with intruders.
The Krishi Mela demonstrated how technology is transforming agriculture, equipping farmers with tools for greater productivity, water conservation, and security.
