Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has added a Kannada language option to its website, aiming to improve accessibility and strengthen its cultural connection with Karnataka’s people. This feature allows travelers to navigate airport services more easily in their native language, according to a press release from BIAL.

Hari Marar, Managing Director & CEO of BIAL, expressed satisfaction over the launch, stating that the Kannada version of the website will ensure an inclusive and accessible experience for passengers. The new feature provides real-time flight information in Kannada, helping travelers stay updated on arrivals, departures, and delays. Additionally, FAQs in Kannada will simplify the travel process by addressing common queries.

Marar also highlighted KIA’s commitment to reflecting Karnataka’s culture through  multilingual signage, Kannada speaking staff, flight information displays, public announcements, and signboards in shops and outlets.

The introduction of Kannada on the airport’s website has received widespread appreciation on X. Many credited language activists and the Kannada Development Authority for their persistent efforts in ensuring Kannada’s recognition in public spaces.

One user wrote, “This wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless efforts of language activists and the Kannada Development Authority. A great achievement!” Another commented, “A proud moment for Karnataka, our language deserves representation everywhere.”
