The airport, which handles around 1600 trucks daily, developed the ATMF to resolve challenges such as congestion, delays and inadequate facilities for drivers. With more than 250  parking bays, the facility utilizes digital tools for processing, automated approvals and smoother cargo flow.

According to the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the ATMF is India’s first on-airport truck management facility with a fully automated, paperless system for truck entry and exit. It includes automated pre check-ins, digitized pick-ups and exit processes that have significantly improved operational speed.

The use of handheld devices during check-ins has cut truck turnaround time from four hours to just one hour. As a result, 78% of trucks now wait less than 20 minutes before entering the cargo areas. The system also features 24/7 CCTV surveillance and app-based approval processes for faster, more secure clearances.
