  • Bengaluru Airport suspends Turkey’s Celebi Aviation over national security concerns
  • 15 international flights affected; alternative service providers deployed
  • Move follows similar action at Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad airports

In a move aligned with national security directives, Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has suspended the operations of Turkey-based ground handling company Celebi Aviation. The action follows similar decisions by airports in Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad, as the central government tightens scrutiny over foreign operators in sensitive infrastructure sectors.

The suspension came into effect on Thursday night, with airport authorities confirming that Celebi's services have been discontinued in accordance with orders from the Union government. The decision impacts approximately 15 international flights that were being handled daily by Celebi at the Bengaluru airport.

Authorities have assured passengers and stakeholders that alternative ground handling arrangements have been swiftly put in place to avoid service disruptions. Other air service providers have taken over Celebi’s responsibilities to ensure seamless operations and minimal inconvenience. Airport management has also stated that steps are being taken to safeguard the interests of staff previously employed under Celebi’s operations.

Celebi Aviation had a presence in nine airports across India and had been a key player in ground handling services for years. However, concerns flagged at the national level regarding its operations have led to the termination of its agreements across multiple cities.

The move marks another diplomatic and commercial setback for Turkey, as India strengthens its security posture regarding foreign entities operating in critical infrastructure zones.
