This number would surge to 50,000 employees within next two years
“Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is set to generate 12,000 jobs over the next two years,” announced CEO Hari Marar during a panel discussion at the SOUL Bangalore Business Conclave in Bengaluru. He emphasized, “Bengaluru’s business, industrial, and transportation sectors are experiencing unprecedented growth.”
Marar highlighted the airport’s remarkable progress, noting that the workforce has grown from 25,000 employees before the second terminal’s opening to its current count of 38,000.
He projected that this number would surge to 50,000 within the next two years.
Additionally, he shared a vision for the airport, stating, “By the end of 2024, we anticipate serving 4 crore passengers. Given our current trajectory, a second airport is imperative for Bengaluru by 2032. To that end, we identified a location and formulated a plan two years ago, with an investment of around 15,000 crore rupees slated for Bengaluru airport’s development by 2030.”
Priyank Kharge, the Minister of IT and BT, Rural Development, and Panchayat Raj, affirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting industry and enterprise establishment. He also announced plans to establish centers of excellence to foster growth in various sectors, including automobile and biotechnology.
In the field of agriculture and modern technology, State Agriculture Minister Chaluvarayaswamy unveiled a special scheme aimed at educating farmers about adopting contemporary agricultural technologies and fostering entrepreneurship among the state’s farming community.
