The Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability at Azim Premji University is organizing a five-day workshop focused on water and air quality for residents and communities.
This initiative comes in response to India's alarming pollution levels, as highlighted by the "2023: World Air Quality Report," which ranks India as the third most polluted nation globally, with Delhi being the most polluted capital.

While Bengaluru is ranked 673rd, the city faces rising temperatures, irregular rains, and rapid urbanization, impacting its environmental quality.
The workshop, led by environmental scientists Professors Mohammad Irshad Rather and Manisha Mishra, aims to empower residents with essential knowledge to manage pollution effectively.
Harini Nagendra, Director of the Centre, reportedly emphasized the importance of educating the public on understanding air and water quality indices. "People are aware of pollution but lack the know-how to address it. Our workshop will provide the necessary information to help residents engage with civic bodies and pollution control boards," she stated.
Participants will learn about seven critical water quality parameters—TDS, pH, Coliform, Chlorine, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate—and receive test kits for home use. The workshop includes hands-on sessions, lectures, case studies, and interactive discussions.
Scheduled for July 12-14 and 19-20 at the university campus near Sarjapura, the workshop fee is ₹2,360, with applications closing on June 15.
