  • BAMUL has requested BMRCL to provide space for Nandini parlours near metro stations
  • KMF will open parlours in six metro stations; more locations are being identified
  • The move counters the earlier Amul entry and aims to strengthen Nandini's visibility

In a renewed push to expand the reach of the homegrown dairy brand Nandini, the Bangalore Milk Union Ltd. (BAMUL) has approached the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) with a formal request to allocate space near metro stations for setting up exclusive Nandini parlours. This move is aimed at strengthening the visibility and accessibility of Nandini milk and dairy products across the city’s metro network.

BAMUL president D K Suresh held discussions with top BMRCL officials on Friday and proposed the construction of parlours on vacant plots outside metro stations. According to his statement on the social media platform X, the effort is part of a broader sales expansion strategy to better connect with urban commuters and increase daily footfall to Nandini outlets.

BMRCL sources revealed that Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) will initially establish parlours at six designated metro stations. BAMUL has also been directed to shortlist more stations where future outlets could be set up. The initiative follows recent political pressure on the state government, which faced criticism for allegedly favouring Amul over Nandini. The controversy erupted after Amul emerged as the sole bidder in a previous BMRCL tender and was permitted to open outlets at ten metro locations.

In response, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar had asked KMF to actively participate in such tenders to safeguard and promote the Nandini brand. With this move, BAMUL aims to reclaim public trust and reinforce the brand’s presence in Karnataka’s capital city.
