The accused, identified as Rakesh Kumar (35) and Baisakhi (30), both bank employees residing in B Narayanapura, were returning from a party when they were stopped near Singayyanapalya Metro station on Saturday night. Traffic Police Inspector Anitha Kumari led the operation, during which Rakesh’s blood alcohol level was recorded at 133 mg/100 ml, far exceeding the legal limit.

Following the test, police impounded Rakesh’s motorcycle and instructed him to seek a court order for its release. Unwilling to comply, he demanded immediate possession of his vehicle. His companion, Baisakhi, reportedly verbally abused the inspector for nearly 30 minutes before physically assaulting her. She allegedly struck Anitha on the right hand and attempted to kick her, prompting the officer to push her away in self-defense.

The duo was taken to Mahadevapura Police Station, where medical tests confirmed alcohol consumption. They were charged with obstructing a public servant and assault.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to strict enforcement against individuals interfering with law enforcement duties.
