A shocking case of alleged dog cruelty has come to light in the Mahadevapura police limits, leaving residents disturbed and the accused scrambling for cover. The main accused, identified as Triparna, has been under the scanner for months after repeated complaints from neighbours about the distressing condition of dogs kept in her house.

According to local residents, the constant barking and howling of the dogs could be heard even when doors and windows were shut, raising suspicions of neglect and abuse. Six months ago, a formal complaint was filed against Triparna for mistreating her dogs. Based on this, the BBMP Animal Husbandry Department had issued her a clear warning back in January.

Despite the warning, it’s alleged that Triparna continued to mistreat the animals. Matters escalated when BBMP officers made a surprise inspection following fresh complaints from residents about a dog’s suspicious death in her house. When the team arrived unannounced, Triparna reportedly tried to buy time, putting up a dramatic show and even playing the ‘woman card’ to deflect questions. She allegedly tried to intimidate BBMP officials by threatening suicide if they took strict action.

Officials, however, stood their ground, citing that such cruelty cases could not be brushed under the carpet or given more time. The surprise raid exposed several irregularities, and the fact that Triparna had not even informed the authorities about the dog’s death only added to her troubles.

Residents are demanding strict action against the accused, while the BBMP has promised that the case will be pursued seriously to set an example against animal cruelty.
