In a concerted effort to combat visual impairments and promote eye health, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has initiated a program aimed at addressing vision concerns among government school students and senior citizens.

As part of this proactive approach, BBMP has earmarked 5,900 spectacles for procurement, intending to distribute them among those in need.

The health department of BBMP has meticulously identified 3,100 economically disadvantaged students and 2,800 senior citizens experiencing visual challenges. In a commendable move, these spectacles will be provided free of charge to the identified individuals, facilitating improved vision and overall well-being.

Furthermore, BBMP is extending its commitment to health by conducting complimentary medical check-ups for a substantial cohort of over 25,000 students enrolled in its schools and colleges.

Notably, this initiative is not limited to students alone, as parents of these students are also encouraged to undergo medical examinations.

In cases where health issues are identified, the civic body pledges to administer free treatment to both students and their parents.

This multifaceted approach underscores BBMP's dedication to fostering a healthier and more vibrant community by addressing visual health concerns and providing comprehensive medical support to those in need.
