BBMP finally procures shoes and socks valued at Rs 1.2 crore
Shoes and socks to be distributed to 25,500 students in BBMP schools
BBMP awarded a contract to Lidkar for supplying shoes and socks
After facing much delays, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has finally secured shoes and socks valued at Rs 1.2 crore for more than 25,500 students enrolled in its educational institutions.
This procurement will enable the civic body to distribute the shoes and socks to students, likely during the current academic year.
BBMP officials initiated the procurement process by issuing work orders to the state-run Leather Industries Development Corporation (Lidkar).
Recognizing the challenges and time constraints associated with the tendering process, BBMP devised a proposal to obtain these items directly from Lidkar and submitted it for approval to the state government.
Fortunately, the government approved BBMP’s proposal, granting them the authority to procure shoes and socks directly from Lidkar.
Subsequently, BBMP awarded a contract to Lidkar and recently issued a work order for the supply of shoes and socks.
BBMP officials anticipate that Lidkar will commence the delivery of the items in the coming few days. The supplies will include black shoes and socks, costing Rs 50.2 lakh, as well as brown/blue shoes and socks, amounting to Rs 72.1 lakh.
It is worth noting that BBMP operates a total of 33 high schools, 16 primary schools, 18 PU colleges, four degree colleges, and 93 nursery schools within the city.
