Bengaluru: BBMP to spend Rs 33 crore on filing potholes

 BBMP would spend Rs 33 crore for the task of filling potholes across the city. Tenders whose cumulative amount adds up to Rs 18 crore for projects across 14 districts have already been floated. The tenders for the remaining districts would also be circulated shortly. “The tender process will be completed in one month and work will begin soon,” BS Prahalad, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) engineer-in-chief said in an interaction with The Times of India.

 The tender for the task in Bommanahalli cost Rs 3.6 crore. This includes 6 sub-divisions of the constituency. Rs 1.5 crore was allocated for the work in Shivajinagar. Basavanagudi, Jayanagar and Chickpet have been given Rs 90 lakh each.  The period of the contract would be one year. The eight wards in RR Nagar and Hebbal and seven wards in Pulikeshinagar and Shantinagar have received an amount of Rs 15 lakh each. The two subdivisions of Govindarajanagar have been allocated Rs 60 lakh and Rs 75 lakh each. Two subdivisions of Malleswaram have been given Rs 45 lakh and Rs 60 lakh each.

Earlier Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had set the deadline for filling potholes as the end of November. “I’ve asked Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials to take suggestions from traffic police and identify potholes. The public can also alert the Palike commissioner,” DK Shivakumar mentioned.
