Bengaluru: BBMP unveils Rs 19,930 crore budget for FY 2025-26

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) presented its annual budget today with a total budget of Rs 19,930 crore for FY 2025-26. This year’s budget marks a 50% increase from the previous year’s budget.

The budget was presented by Dr Harish Kumar K who is Special Commissioner (Finance) in the Town Hall at Bengaluru. BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath and Administrator SR Umashankar were also present while the budget was being presented. A significant amount of the revenue for the budget is sourced from state government grants. This is the fifth consecutive budget presented without an elected body.

Dr Harish Kumar stated that approximately 65 percent of the budget will be allocated to the development projects during his budget speech. BBMP is expecting to extract Rs 5716 crore from property tax, Rs 7000 crore from state government grants, Rs 500 crore from the World Bank and Rs 238 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund.

He also stated that Rs 1751 crore has been allocated for administrative expenses, Rs 1968 crore for project maintenance and Rs 1400 crore for solid waste management.
