BEML Limited, a key player in defence and heavy engineering, has inaugurated its Futuristic Product Innovation and Incubation Centre (FPIIC) at its Bengaluru facility. The state-of-the-art center was unveiled by Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, in the presence of BEML CMD Shri Shantanu Roy, senior officials, and defence experts.

Vice Admiral Swaminathan praised the initiative, calling it a strategic asset for the Navy. “The FPIIC will strengthen supply chain resilience, manage obsolescence, and promote indigenization. Leveraging BEML’s R&D capabilities will enhance our defence projects and national security,” he reportedly stated.
Shantanu Roy highlighted the center’s focus on core capabilities like structures, hydraulics, and machining to develop import substitutes, including diesel engines, submarine masts, torpedo launchers, and maritime cranes.
The FPIIC also emphasizes crew-centric innovations, such as designing improved ship interiors to boost personnel morale. By recruiting top engineers from IITs, NITs, and IISc, BEML seeks to foster a culture of innovation.
With manufacturing hubs in Bengaluru, Mysuru, KGF, and Palakkad, BEML, under the Ministry of Defence, continues to lead in defence and heavy engineering, backed by six decades of expertise.
