The Karnataka division of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has recently awarded a contract worth Rs 36.5 crore to two companies for the development of essential facilities along the 118km Bengaluru-Mysore expressway.

Responding to commuter criticism over the lack of basic amenities, NHAI officials plan to equip the controlled-access highway with four toilet blocks, two Nest (Mini) facilities, and 24 foot overbridges.

The amenities will include accessible toilets, drinking water, tea, coffee, and packaged food, addressing the long-standing demand for restrooms, gas stations, and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure along the expressway.

The contract, which covers the implementation of Nest (Mini) and toilet blocks, is valued at Rs 1.5 crore, while the investment for the construction of 24 foot overbridges amounts to Rs 35 crore.

This development is expected to enhance the overall commuting experience for travelers between Mysuru and Bengaluru, addressing longstanding concerns and contributing to the region's infrastructure development.
