According to reports, Vinay died by hanging himself around 4:30 am. The incident has triggered political and public attention due to an ongoing controversy involving a WhatsApp group he administered, titled ‘Kodagina Problems and Tips’. An objectionable post circulated through the group reportedly involved a Congress leader from Kodagu. This led to an FIR being filed against Vinay at the Madikeri police station. Though he was arrested, he was later released on bail.

In a death note reportedly left behind, Vinay accused Congress leader Thennira Maina of driving him to despair. He also referenced the political pressure and legal action he faced over the group’s content, including an accusation against Congress MLA Ponnanna.

Responding to the incident, Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar stated that not all information on social media is accurate. He assured that the police will investigate the matter thoroughly and that action will be taken based on facts, regardless of influence or political affiliation.

The case has added a fresh layer of tension to the political climate in Kodagu and Bengaluru.
