The countdown for New Year celebrations have begun. The waves of celebration have caught on across the city of Bengaluru. Citizens have been making plans to make the day memorable. Amidst all this, the citizens have received a shock from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) that has made the tickets more expensive for the day.

The metro service will be available for citizens until 2 AM on January 1st 2024. The celebrations will likely be more intense on MG Road, Church Street, Brigade Road and other regions of the city. The metro services have been extended in these regions owing to the celebrations. Additionally the metro train will not be making a stop at the M.G Road station during this time period. This is possibly intended to avoid crowding. Those partying in M.G Road must catch the train either in the Trinity Circle station or the Cubbon Park station. A ticket amounting to Rs 50 has to be purchased for travel.

The raise in price could also be seen as a crowd controlling measure. This would also improve efficiency by ensuring that there is no struggle between the commuters and the staff for change. The metro usually does not operate beyond 11 PM. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) would also increase the number of buses on this occasion. BMTC buses will be available until 2 AM along M.G Road and Brigade Road.
