The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has introduced baby feeding booths at five metro stations to support nursing mothers with safe and private spaces for breastfeeding.

In collaboration with NGOs, including the Child Help Foundation and the Sibdi Swavalamban Foundation, these booths aim to address the challenges mothers face in finding appropriate breastfeeding spaces. Currently, the facilities are available at Baiyappanahalli, Majestic, Yeshwantpur, Kengeri, and Yelachenahalli stations.
The latest booth, established at Baiyappanahalli Metro Station, features an 8x8 room equipped with broad benches designed for comfort, accommodating up to four mothers at a time. Women who have used these facilities praised their cleanliness, privacy, and spaciousness.
BMRCL officials reportedly confirmed plans to expand these booths to other metro stations in the future but emphasized the need to assess operational costs first. The upkeep of these booths is managed by BMRCL and aims to provide the best possible experience for nursing mothers.
For stations without dedicated feeding booths, nursing mothers can request access to private spaces through the station’s customer care.
The initiative underscores BMRCL’s commitment to fostering a family-friendly travel experience and enhancing the convenience of public transportation for women in Bengaluru.
