Namma Metro in Bengaluru will provide charging points to users of electric vehicles. Though the company intends to set up these points across the city, as of now, it has focused its resources only in certain stations.
The move holds a great significance as it encourages more people to graduate into using electric vehicles.
Presently, the company has given 4624 square feet of land to contractors in as many as 69 stations. It should also be noted that the points have been functional in 39 stations and in the remaining stations, work is in full swing.
With the setting up of such points, BMRCL hopes to generate a revenue of Rs 1.5 crore.
As per the Energy and Electric Storage Policy of 2017, the government hopes to create greater awareness among the general public to relinquish petrol or diesel vehicles and graduate into electric vehicles.
