A Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus stalled on a railway track near the Ramohalli crossing, briefly stopped the Vande Bharat Express on Monday.
The bus, operating on route 227J/1 from Margondanahalli to K.R. Market, halted on the tracks after the driver, Easwariah, had put the vehicle in neutral while waiting for another train to pass. However, when he attempted to restart the bus, the gear got jammed, leaving the vehicle stranded.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the driver immediately alerted railway authorities, who took swift action to stop the approaching Vande Bharat Express. BMTC officials dispatched a mechanic and a tow vehicle to remove the bus from the tracks. Fortunately, there were only six passengers on board at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The incident, captured on video, has raised concerns over safety at unmanned railway crossings and the operational preparedness of BMTC buses. Authorities are investigating the mechanical failure that led to the mishap.
While no major disruptions were caused, the quick response of railway officials helped avert a potential disaster. BMTC has assured that it will conduct a thorough check on its fleet to prevent similar incidents in the future.
