  • Akshak was the driver of 500D on 13th September
  • Each seat of the bus was ruined on account of rain
  • BMTC put the onus of this on negligence on the part of Akshak

Akshak was the driver of 500D that operates between Central Silk Board and Hebbal on 13th September. There were heavy rains in many parts of the city on that day. On account of the rain, some of the water had entered the bus. Each seat of the bus was ruined on account of the rain. A complaint was filed in regard to this.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) issued a show cause notice to Akshak. They put the onus of this on negligence on the part of Akshak. They claimed that his actions have brought disrepute to the institute and posed a question to him as to why action must not be taken against him for this. They characterised his actions as irresponsible and asked from a written reply within a period of seven days failing which action would be initiated against him. This notice was drafted on 8th November.

Union members have questioned this move and are opposing the notion that the actions of the driver were responsible for the bus being filled with water. The bus driver is receiving ample support on social media as well. “Such actions bring down the morale of already overburdened crew. The MD of BMTC who was doing mere photo op by travelling one day in bus should be taken to task. The most pathetic maintenance in recent years, without a doubt (sic),” a user commented.
