  • Bengaluru to see daily afternoon/evening rain and thunderstorms this week
  • Temperatures to range between 21°C and 34°C; high humidity persists
  • IMD urges caution during gusty winds and lightning; no formal alert issued yet

Bengaluru residents can expect a break from the ongoing hot and humid spell as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a consistent wet phase over the coming days. While the city has seen dry skies lately, rain and thunderstorm activity are likely to return, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.

On Tuesday, the city recorded a high of 34.2°C — marginally above the seasonal average — and a night-time low of 24°C. High humidity levels, peaking at 80% in the morning, contributed to discomfort despite the absence of rain in the past 24 hours.

For today, April 30, the IMD predicts partly cloudy conditions in the morning followed by possible showers and thunderstorms later in the day. Commuters are advised to carry umbrellas and watch out for waterlogging in low-lying areas. While no formal weather alert has been issued, the pattern indicates the arrival of Bengaluru’s pre-monsoon season.

Maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 33–34°C, with nighttime lows settling between 21–23°C in the days ahead. The wettest days are likely to be May 4 and 5, when rain is expected throughout the day.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during lightning or gusty winds and to stay updated with official advisories as the weather turns wetter and more unpredictable.
