  • Satish Jarkiholi raised concerns about dust pollution caused in villages

The Bengaluru-Chennai expressway which was scheduled to be completed by October 2024 is expected to be complete only by June 2025.

The construction of the entire stretch was divided into three parts. The first part is between Hoskote and Bethamangala in Karnataka amounting to 62.6 km of the distance. Close to 78% of the completion along this route has been completed. The cost for this stretch is estimated to be Rs 4257.42 crore. The construction can be completed by October 2024.

The second part of the construction is between Bethamangala to Gudipala in Andhra Pradesh. This forms 85 km of the total distance. This has been divided into three sub sections. The first ranging from Bethamangala to Baireddypalli, the second ranging from Baireddypalli to Banagarupalyam and the third ranging from Bangarupalyam to Gudipala. This is where the delay seems to be occurring. Only 39.83%, 10.05% and 47.26% of progress has been achieved in each of these sub sections respectively. The cost for the second part of the flyover is estimated to be Rs 4766.87 crore. It would take June 2025 to get finished.

The progress in the third stretch from Gudipala to Sriperumbuddur in Tamil Nadu has also been moderately slow but it would still be completed by August 2024. Karnataka PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi has also raised concerns about dust pollution caused in villages along the line of construction.
