People from Bengaluru are not convinced and are discontented with the smart city work by Bengaluru Smart City Limited.

Out of the 46 smart city projects taken up by Bengaluru Smart City Limited in the city, 41 projects have been completed. But, people complain about the completed smart city work not being comprehensive, qualitative and up to the mark.

Major portion of the funds allocated for smart city projects have been utilised and a small portion of funds is yet to sanctioned.

Bengaluru Smart City Limited was established in 2018 and since then the smart city work is going on, but even today citizens hardly find any noticeable changes made under the smart city project in the city. Citizens say that these projects have failed to meet the standards of smart city project plan.

The remaining five pending projects that are under way include upgradation of the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium building, construction of a multi-level car parking facility in the Gandhi Bazaar area, redevelopment of KR Market Centre building, renovation of the meat market, and the Integrated Command and Control Centre. All these projects would be completed by June 2024.

Though Bengaluru Smart City Limited claims to have completed all 32 road projects, people still find a number of issues with most of these roads. They are dissatisfied with the fact that Bengaluru Smart City Limited didn’t take comprehensive and qualitative approach in implementing smart city development projects in the city.
