A comprehensive sanitation drive will be launched across all eight zones of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) from April 21 to 30, 2025, as part of a pre-monsoon cleanliness campaign. Spearheaded by Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML), the initiative aims to tackle waste accumulation in public spaces, including footpaths, roadsides, and vacant plots.

The 10-day campaign will target identified dumping hotspots across the city. BBMP, in coordination with BSWML, has planned a phased clean-up operation to swiftly remove garbage from these locations. Emphasis is also being placed on community participation, with NGOs, resident welfare associations, apartment complexes, and volunteer groups expected to join hands in the effort.

Beyond general waste, the initiative will address the issue of construction and demolition debris left in open areas. BBMP has committed to clearing all such waste to ensure cleaner surroundings before the onset of the monsoon.

The drive will also focus on curbing the use of single-use plastics by inspecting industries and commercial establishments. Enforcement measures are expected against violators as part of the broader push toward sustainable waste management.

To reinforce public awareness, auto tippers equipped with loudspeakers will circulate across wards, urging citizens to avoid littering and participate in the clean-up. The campaign represents a collaborative effort between civic authorities and the public to enhance the city's cleanliness and hygiene ahead of the rainy season.
