Dr.Cyriac Abby Philips, popular as the liverdoc on X, has had his X account withheld in response to a legal suit filed by Himalaya Wellness Company for allegedly defamatory comments made on X. The order was passed by a Bengaluru civil court.

He has however refuted the claims. “All of these are baseless claims because every post of mine on Himalaya products, especially the Liv.52, their flagship product, are all backed by scientific evidence from where I have analysed their products. Some of these products are dangerous for people, especially those with chronic liver disease. They also indulge in adulteration and usage of contaminated and substandard products,” he stated in an interaction with India Today.

According to the suit, the statements and materials posted in twitter are false and not justified. The purpose of Liver Doc in making such publications is cut throat competition with the products of the company with products of Cipla and Alchem.

The judgement passed an ad-interim ex palette injunction suspending the account until the next hearing. “The judgments also indicate that there is a need to issue ad interim ex-parte injunction directing the party who is posting such materials to remove them at the earliest so as to minimise the damage caused to the person who is affected by such postings in any manner like loss of reputation, loss of income in monetary terms and disservice to the consumers who are benefited by the products like Liv-52,” the judgement stated.
