Col (Retd) Jagadev Singh Thakur hoisted the tricolor, delivering a thought-provoking address on the significance of Republic Day and its enduring relevance for future generations. He reflected on India’s development challenges and the risks of exploitation by developed nations, urging collective vigilance and responsibility.
The event celebrated the essence of Republic Day by uniting senior citizens and youngsters alike. Cultural performances infused the celebration with enthusiasm, bringing diverse participants together to honor the nation’s spirit.
Col Thakur’s speech also emphasized the significance of India’s Constitution, adopted in 1950, which laid the foundation for an inclusive and democratic society. He called on attendees to honor the sacrifices and cherish the values of unity in diversity.
A tribute was paid to the common citizens whose resilience and innovation have propelled India to global prominence. With a $5 trillion economy, the 3rd most powerful military, and the second-largest STEM workforce globally, India stands as a testament to its people’s collective efforts.

A note on Col Jagdev Singh (Retd)
Col Jagdev Singh (Retd), born in 1943, is a distinguished alumnus of the Indian Military Academy who served the Indian Army with dedication for 40 years, retiring in 1995 as a Colonel. A veteran of the 1962 Indo-China War, 1965 Indo-Pak War, and 1971 Indo-Pak War, he displayed extraordinary courage and resilience, being wounded in action during the 1971 War. He also played a key role in internal peacekeeping during the Punjab insurgencies and participated in the strategic military exercise, Operation Brasstacks.
