Girish Kumar Naidu, a youth leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has approached the police against the Empire chain of restaurants. His claim is that the hotel chain remains functional post 3 A.M despite government orders that prevent such activities. 2 such complaints have been made to the Bengaluru city police commissioner B Dayananda. An FIR (First Information Report) has been lodged under the sections of the Police Act Section 103 and Section 188 that levies a fine, imprisonment and may extend up to revocation of licence if a government order is found to have been flouted causing an obstruction or annoyance to an legal citizen of the country.
Speaking to NewsFirst Kannada, Girish Kumar Naidu said, “What should be highlighted is that the Empire chain of restaurants remain open till 3 A.M to 4 A.M in the morning. This has caused distress to so many. This is why we have registered a complaint. What we have mentioned in the complaint is that across their various branches spread across Kammanahalli, Church Street, Yennur and Shivaji Nagar, this practice is being followed in the premises of their restaurant. We want to know whether the commissioner order is not applicable to them?“
