It has been 75 years since India adopted its constitution. The Department of Social Welfare of Karnataka held a convention on the constitution and national integrity to commemorate this. The Siddaramaiah government has pledged to uphold the constitution given to India by Dr B.R Ambedkar and spread awareness about it among citizens.
The motto for the convention was “My constitution, my life.” The Minister of Social Welfare of Karnataka H.C Mahadevappa helmed the convention which was held in Palace Grounds. The government reiterated that through their guarantee schemes they aim to bring into action the philosophy of equality of life and equality in decision making. Including the President of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Mallikarjun Kharge, leaders from other states were also present on this occasion. The program was started by playing kettledrums and an offering of flowers to the photos of eminent personalities.

H.C Mahadevappa took an oath to ensure that the message of the constitution reaches every household in Karnataka. He highlighted the principles of unity in diversity as well as the constitution’s recognition of the fact that despite having gained independence the principles of social equality remain to be achieved in India during his inaugural speech. He stressed on the need to uphold constitutional morality. The government has decided to compulsorily teach constitutional values across schools and universities in Karnataka.
