The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police in Bengaluru have arrested three individuals—Tabsum Begum, Azeem Uddeen Anand, and Abhishek—for running a honey-trap racket that extorted ₹2.5 crore from a victim over three years.

The victim, a 48-year-old employee of a Central Government venture, met Tabsum Begum at a gym in RT Nagar. She befriended him by claiming she had adopted a child, and their relationship soon turned intimate. Tabsum sent the victim private photos, which were later used to blackmail him.

The gang coerced the victim into paying large sums of money repeatedly since 2021 by threatening to expose him. After years of harassment, the victim finally lodged a police complaint. The CCB swiftly acted on the matter, arresting the trio and ending their extortion scheme.

Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution while forming personal relationships and to report such incidents promptly.
