The Bengaluru City police arrested two students on Friday after they allegedly threw lit firecrackers onto a busy roadway while riding a scooter, creating a public safety hazard. The incident occurred on Thursday night along Hennur main road and was captured in a video by a passerby. The footage quickly circulated on social media, sparking public condemnation over the reckless act, which endangered other road users.

The accused, identified as Aditya S, 19, and Akshay Kumar V, 18, reside in the Ashok Nagar and Thanisandra areas, respectively. Aditya, a first-semester mechanical engineering student, was riding his electric scooter while his friend Akshay, seated on the back, ignited and tossed the crackers. Police used the scooter’s registration details to track Aditya, who then led them to Akshay.

The police seized Aditya's scooter and conducted blood tests on both students to determine if they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident. They also issued traffic penalties to Aditya for rash driving and not wearing a helmet. The case was subsequently handed over to Hennur law and order police. Both students were charged under Section 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing danger or obstruction on a public roadway.
