In a major breakthrough, the cyber police have arrested four fraudsters from Rajasthan who duped student job seekers by creating fraudulent bank accounts. The arrested individuals have been identified as Abhay Charan, Arvind Kumar, Pavan Vishnoi, and Sawai Singh, all hailing from North India. The accused targeted desperate students by visiting prestigious colleges, gaining their trust, and encouraging them to open accounts for a nominal fee of Rs 1,000.

Once the students paid the initial amount, the fraudsters would continue to extort larger sums, amounting to lakhs, under the guise of promising lucrative job offers. The elaborate scheme saw the fraudsters supply account-opening kits to the victims, further reinforcing their trust. Subsequently, they would make enticing calls, falsely claiming attractive employment opportunities to extract more money.

During their investigation, the police uncovered the fraudulent modus operandi and tracked the suspects to Rajasthan. The operation led to the resolution of 43 cases spanning 15 states and a recovery of Rs 12.5 lakh, along with multiple SIM cards, debit cards, and mobile phones used in the scam.

This crackdown highlights the efforts of the cyber police in curbing online scams and protecting vulnerable students from predatory schemes. Investigations are ongoing to trace other potential victims and accomplices.
